Well it is practically the end of the semester already which seems weird because I feel like I still have so much to do... Overall, this project was an awesome way for me to distract myself from the stress of the credential program. Through this project I was able to gain new knowledge of how to find and cultivate resources. I specifically focused on resources for Scratchboard because that is what this project was focused on. In learning new ways of finding and cultivating resources with technology, I am now able to expand my knowledge into resources that might be helpful for my future teaching career. I mainly used Pinterest and Youtube for finding resources in this project. I was able to use this website and Twitter to display my work and my journey throughout this project. This semester, I was able to learn about Google +, which is another awesome way to cultivate and spread your knowledge. Who knows, maybe I will start a Google + Community on Scratchboard in the future! (I don't really have time right now as I am currently in the end of the semester crunch to finish all my assignments and TPE's....)
This week, I further researched techniques to better help me complete my piece. I was mainly looking for other Scratchboard Art pieces that display human faces, as I am very nervous about completing the faces of my grandparents because I don't want to mess it up! Even though you can somewhat "erase" your mistakes in Scratchboard, you are unable to "erase" and re-do as you are on paper. Once you scratch off a layer on Scratchboard, you can "cover" it up with black permanent marker. Unfortunately, you can't re-scratch on top of a surface that you did make a mistake on because the permanent marker does not replace the chalk on your canvas that was already scratched off...
When researching this art medium, it was hard to find a large amount of resources because it is not as well-known as other art mediums, like painting. Pinterest is a great tool to not only display your work but research art techniques and other ideas that might not be so well known. I was able to find a couple of Pinterest boards that were helpful references that I will be able to use next week as I continue my final project and in my future.
Even though this post is my overall reflection of my 20% project, I am still not finished! I will be updating this page with my posts, as I am still working on my final portrait piece for my grandparents wedding anniversary gift! I will also be updating my Instagram account with further progress...

To see helpful resources that I have found throughout my journey be sure to check out the "Resources" tab at the top of my blog. This week, I focused my attention to Pinterest. I found some really great examples of Scratchboard Art that allows you to see different techniques artists use with this medium to make their piece stand out. In regards to art, it is important to be aware of different techniques no matter what medium you are using, as it is through precision and technique that art is created!
As always.... check out my Instagram to stay up to date on my progress! Once I have finished all of my TPEs and classes, I will truly be able to devote more time to this project. As of right now, I have 7 more weeks from yesterday (Saturday May 3rd) until my wedding! This means that I have 7 more weeks to finish my final portrait piece!
